Thought-of Card Divination Effect
Effect: "Divination" of a Freely Thought-Of Card.
The effect goes like this: The magician begins by saying, "Do you believe I can know your thoughts, even before you've completely formed them?" You're probably thinking 'no way,' but sometimes it *is* possible. To demonstrate this, the magician writes a prediction on a slip of paper, which remains in full view until the trick concludes. A spectator from the audience will be asked to think of any card from a poker deck. Once they have a card in mind, the magician brings out a deck, explaining that it's no ordinary deck; it's quite special, not for its faces, but for its backs. Every card has a unique name. (For example, the Three of Spades is named Raul, the King of Clubs is Alejandro, and the Eight of Hearts is Maria. This is true for all cards, ensuring each one has a distinct identity.) Once this process of displaying the cards is complete, the spectator is asked to clearly state the card they've been thinking of since the start. Let's say they named the 2 of Spades. The magician then searches for the card, stressing that it was a completely free choice and that as the performer, there's no way I could've known which card they'd pick. Once the card is produced, the spectator is asked to open the paper that has been on the table since the beginning. I make sure to point out that the prediction was written long before they ever thought of their card, and the spectator confirms this. At that tense moment, another spectator reads what's written on the paper: "Thank you for choosing "SAMUEL"." The 2 of Spades is then turned face up, revealing it's the *only* card in the deck named Samuel.
