What's a good opener to really impress?

Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to magic. What trick would you recommend? (I know some basic moves and a few techniques.)

An ambitious routine always pays off, and for me, at least, finishing a routine by producing the spectator's card from my mouth always gets a fantastic reaction.

Hey there!

On the Magia y Cardistry and Julio Ribera channels — plus a ton of other magic YouTubers — you can find easy effects that, with the right patter, can play really strong.

You can also learn some great effects in Cartomagia Fundamental.

All the best and keep the magic alive!

If you're just starting out, I'd recommend any self-working or semi-automatic trick. That'll let you focus on creating an interesting presentation for your audience and gaining confidence in front of people, which will be essential when you want to incorporate more technical tricks where you absolutely have to manage people's attention, because otherwise, they'll bust you (but that's a whole other discussion).

To recap:

To start, self-working and semi-automatic tricks. Basic techniques (Key Card, simple Controls, etc. In Cartomagia Fundamental, there's some great material, as they mentioned). And most importantly, work on your presentations (remember that the same procedure can yield multiple magical effects, depending on your patter).

All the best,
