Rising Card, problems with the elastic thread

I'm having a little trouble with this trick. I'm using 0.4 transparent elastic thread (honestly, it's the thinnest I could find).

The problem is, if I adjust it too tightly to the two cards, it's really, really hard to get the chosen card between them...and don't even get me started on trying an overhand or any other type of shuffle afterwards. If I don't adjust it tightly enough, it's too loose. I've tried various adjustments, but I can't find the sweet spot... I'm not sure if the thread is too thick or if I'm doing something wrong.

I've uploaded an unlisted video (so it can only be seen with the link) explaining what's happening; I think it's easier to understand in a video than in words.

Hope you guys can help!

Hey there!

Just a quick thought on this.

There are many ways to approach this. Your proposed method could work, but it's a bit cumbersome.

I'm sharing two videos that demonstrate alternatives (and there are many more out there) for the same effect:

I used to perform this effect with a gimmicked card that had an internal weight and a non-elastic thread. This thread had a guide where the selected card was attached. As you'd turn the gimmick, the weight would fall, and the card would rise (all of this while the card was still in the middle of the deck).

Problem solved!

The clear elastic thread I was using was too thick at 0.4mm.

I figured it out after some experimenting; the 0.2mm elastic thread recommended in another post did the trick.
