Getting Back Into an Old Hobby
Hey everyone,
My name is Sergi (no stage name for me), and I've recently gotten back into this hobby I dropped 20 years ago (I'm 47 today). It's taken me a lifetime to finally reconnect with it.
Not to tell a long story, but if you're curious, it was because I didn't handle my first public performance well (it was totally amateur and for a completely selfless cause). It didn't go completely wrong, but it certainly didn't go as smoothly as I'd planned. I tend to be pretty hard on myself, to the point where I became "disenchanted" (I even started to hate this stuff!), and I also stopped attending the magic club I was part of back then.
Luckily, over time, I slowly started regaining some interest. Very gradually, I began collecting any digital magic or mentalism material I could get my hands on. Then, finally, two or three years ago, I started getting back into practicing some tricks, doing it on and off (I'd practice for a while, then take a break).
These days, my obsession with collecting material has grown, I think, to the point where it could be called "digital Diogenes syndrome." And my practice cycles are starting to feel "normal" now (they don't stop altogether; sometimes I'm more into card magic, sometimes more into mentalism, and so on, but at least I'm always working on something).
Anyway, I've probably rambled on more than I should have... It's a pleasure to be here (and on Telegram), and I hope to contribute positively to this group.
Cheers!

Hang in there, @Porko-Jones, and just take it one step at a time. No need to rush, but keep making progress.
And you're definitely not the only one who's on-again, off-again with magic, so keep at it!
Welcome, Sergi!
I think a lot of us can relate to your journey.
Welcome. As the folks here often say, you're certainly not the first, and you won't be the last, to deal with that.
Best,
Welcome Sergi.
I hope you really enjoy the benefits of being part of this warm and cooperative group.
Unlimited support and magical camaraderie.
Regards,
