D'Lites Sizes: Kids' vs. Adults'

I'm looking to buy some D'Lites for an upcoming gig, but I'm torn between the kids' and adult sizes. I messaged Magia y Cardistry on WhatsApp, and they said the kids' size is for ages 10-12. Since I'm 15, I'm not sure which would be best for me.

If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

Hey there! Unfortunately, the sizes for all kinds of Thumb Tips (whether regular, light-up, fire, or with Nail Writers, etc.) tend to be VERY generic, and human hands are VERY diverse.

Personally, I've got a ton of Thumb Tips I don't use. I've had to buy them just to figure out if the size was comfortable for my finger and for performing.

While it's true that any imperfection can be masked with certain angles (you can even use a ring to cover it if the Thumb Tip is too wide), the ideal is to find one that fits your finger well.

You're basically just going to have to try them out.

Luckily, it's not an expensive prop.

My personal advice: if you can, grab both sizes.

Ideally, someone you know would have one so you could try it.

Another option would be to make a 3D "mold" of your finger, then use those measurements to ask around, and a store with calipers could take the measurements (this is just a crazy idea of mine 😅; while it's technically doable..., I don't really see it happening).

The thing is, if you're 15, your thumb will grow sooner or later – well, you'll grow in general – so you won't get much use out of the smallest Thumb Tip (D'lite).

So if you have to pick one, it's better to get the next size up from the children's one.

I hope my comment helps, but if you have any questions, just ask.

All the best and happy conjuring!

I don't think I have the necessary resources to create a 3D model.

What's more, I don't have any "magician friends" to help me test it out myself. I hope to get the chance to try many other FPs.

Thanks so much for your time and for responding so quickly. I think this new way for magicians to chat through this forum is incredible, and I really appreciate how the more experienced folks can help out us newer ones.

Many thanks!
