Help with the Dancing Cane
Hey everyone,
A while back I picked up a metal Dancing Cane, an effect that, even though it's a bit underused, has fascinated me since I was a kid.
The thing is, it came with black thread that was pretty visible, so I swapped it out for some transparent nylon thread from a craft store, but it's still visible (less than the black) and it's tearing up my finger where I anchor it.
Any suggestions for strong and invisible thread?
Thanks in advance!!!

When using thread, lighting is key. With the right lighting, almost any thread can become invisible.
I've always had great results with Gutterman brand thread. It's just regular black sewing thread you can find at any fabric store.
Hello!
Magic shops carry Invisible Thread for close-up work (it's thin but not very strong) or for stage (more visible but a lot more durable). I think checking out these threads will help you.
You might want to check out the M&C shop.
Good luck!
From what you're describing, it sounds like the problem isn't the thread itself, but the environment where you're performing. You need to create the optimal conditions to make the thread invisible (lighting, background, distance...).
We also carry this in the shop:

Yeah, you're right that I need to experiment with different lighting, but the main problem I've run into is that both the original thread it came with and the nylon ended up breaking. I'll pick up that thread you mentioned; I understand it should be the right one. Thanks!!!
