Invisible Deck
Hello everyone,
I've got an Invisible Deck with a little issue. The roughing that's supposed to hold the 10 of Hearts and 3 of Spades together isn't doing its job anymore. When I take the cards out of the case and spread them to show, as soon as I get to the 10 of Hearts, the 3 of Spades just automatically slips right off, without me wanting it to.
What solutions do you all suggest to fix this problem? Thanks in advance for any input!

Hi.
Carefully, you'll need to reapply some anti-slip agent to those two cards.

Hey everyone. Speaking of this topic, I had the same problem with the cards coming unstuck, but with the whole deck, and it led to a question. First, let me explain the situation:
I made an Invisible Deck using Bicycle Jumbo cards (they already had some use on them), and for the anti-slip agent, I used hair wax. Initially, it worked great; they were a bit tough to separate, but over time they really got 'broken in' nicely. But then, over time, they all started coming unstuck just from spreading the cards.
So that led to my question: Does the anti-slip effect wear off with use? Or even if it's not being used, say, just from having the deck stored for a long time?
Thanks!
Hey.
@ricardorg2283:
To both questions, the answer is YES.
It wears down both with use and over time.
Obviously, it happens much faster with use.
When not in use, it depends on how well the cards are stored and the climate in your area.
The more heat and dryness, the worse for the finish.
Regardless, they can always be restored (unless the cards literally fall apart 😂).

Paraffin works quite well.
I bought the Invisible Deck, and it had absolutely no grip – it just slid around like a regular deck. I figure it was probably due to sitting in the warehouse for too long, because I hadn't even used it yet. That experience completely turned me off from that deck, and to this day, I'm still hesitant to buy another one.
The same thing happened to me with one I bought. That's why I decided to make one myself with some used cards (since it was experimental, I didn't want to risk messing it up, haha). But it's a really good effect; just get some non-slip material and restore it.
Cheers
You can buy some roughing compound and apply a bit of it. I bought Harry Robson's, which comes in stick form, and it works great for me. It's also useful for making your own complete Invisible Decks. And with a bit of imagination, you can make other decks for forces and various other effects. I've made three Invisible Decks and three others for different purposes, and they've all worked out well. It costs around 23 euros, and you'll have enough to rough about 15 to 20 decks.
