These are the ones Mario mentions.

I've tried a few of them myself, and they're solid.

Cheers!😃

Hi Anton,

Great input.

These types of latex flap cards are for a very specific application. Typically, flap cards for full card or color changes are made with clear elastic thread.

Check out Julio's videos; you're sure to find something there.

Cheers,

For a back-changing flap card (which usually costs $11 and up)...

Materials:

• Two Red/Blue double-backer cards.

• Glue stick.

• Invisible thread, the standard kind from a craft store (it's the exact same stuff magicians use, no difference whatsoever).

• Sewing needle.

• A sharp utility knife.

Result = For about $17 (and I'm really rounding up on the high side) and a little bit of elbow grease on your part, you can make 27 Flap cards (worth about $300).

Here's an example of the ones I make, and it takes me about 12 minutes to make each one, plus drying time, which usually isn't more than an hour, though I prefer to let them sit longer.

(It's been years since I've used Vimeo, ever since I stopped playing Lineage 😅 😊 )

This principle can be perfectly applied to both card backs and face cards (by cutting precisely along the frame lines). For the rest of the cards (spot cards from Ace through Ten), this frame isn't recommended as it's harder to conceal.

NOTES:

A note on those 27 flap cards... just so you know:

A 54-card deck (54 divided by 2 = 27) costs about $8 ( https://magiaycardistry.com/producto/bicycle-dorso-azul-y-rojo/ ), and the rest — invisible thread, needle, glue stick, and utility knife — I can tell you won't cost more than $8.

So YES, for less than $17, you get 27 Flap cards. You just have to put in a little work

About the card in the photo and video:

The flap card you see in the example is my "prototype" — in other words, it's the first test I make (when creating any gimmick) to use as a reference for the others. By this, I mean it's far from perfect.

Even so, I prefer to upload this one so you can see that, even with its noticeable flaws, when used correctly--, it works perfectly.

The quality of your flap card will depend on your steady hand when cutting and your patience when gluing, to ensure everything comes out perfect.

Amazing stuff!!!!!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much to both of you for the videos ❤️❤️❤️

I made a flap card for the Black Hole effect. I did a lot of experimenting; I started with thin latex, a piece of a balloon, elastic clear thread... the most important thing is to make many versions until it's good enough 😅 Which is better, well, that depends on what you're using it for; one option works better than another 😊 haha

Besides what @mario_garcia_diaz Mario suggests, it's usually better to use invisible elastic thread. (There's a discussion here in the club where some of us share what we use)

Elastic Thread

Instead of latex, I've used pieces of balloons. My advice is to glue them with Loctite and a bit of tension so they work better.
