What do you guys think are the best effects for cocktail magic?
Hey everyone,
based on your experience, what effects do you think impress audiences the most and can be performed for cocktail magic, even without a table?
I think Double Cross and a solid Ambitious Card routine never fail!!!

I agree with you; that's foolproof.
A great effect is Card to Pocket or 3 Card Monte.
Dani Daortiz has a really great effect he did on Fool Us. No one knows exactly how he does it, but here's how I do it: You riffle through the cards, and when they say stop, you tell them to memorize the top and bottom cards. You perform a Pass, so that one card ends up at the very bottom and the other at the very top. Before you even really begin, and without making a big deal out of it, you palm the top card and set it on top of the card case, justifying it by saying you're just putting it out of the way. Don't announce it or draw attention to it, and they won't even notice. What I do next is start dealing cards from the top until they say stop, and make them believe their card will be at the position they just indicated. When they see it's not there, I tell them it was actually on top of the case. While they're looking, I palm the bottom card, and bring my hand to the case, making a downward motion, and then ditching the card. It gives the impression that the card was in the deck, when in reality it was palmed. I'll leave the original video here in case you're interested:
