One-Handed Palm

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to get the one-handed palm, but I just can't get it. Instead of coming up into the palm, it slides off to the right, out of my hand. And the corner that's supposed to rest against the base of my thumb never really makes it in, because the card won't come up, and I can't palm it. Does anyone have any tips?

Thanks in advance

The Tube Palm

Hold the deck in your right hand in a basic grip, along its short edges. Your thumb should be positioned at the inner-left corner.

Your index finger isn't placed on top of the deck; instead, it's aligned next to your middle fingers, holding the deck along the upper short edge.

The tip of your pinky finger rests on the back of the card, at the upper-right corner, applying downward and forward pressure. This forward pressure from your pinky will cause the card to drag along with the finger, moving diagonally. The pinky then applies downward pressure to hold the deck with the other fingers, which causes the card to lift and, pivoting on your ring finger, move inward towards the palm of your right hand,

where it will be perfectly palmed.

A common flaw is that with excessive pressure, a portion of the card is likely to stick out from the edge of your hand. This spot might be hidden from your perspective but will be visible to your spectators. Make sure this doesn't happen.

It's important that the audience's attention isn't focused on your hands at this moment. Holding the deck with one hand allows you to gesticulate with the other, directing the spectators' gaze elsewhere. Plus, spectators won't suspect you can pull any moves with just one

hand.
