Top Change
Good morning, everyone. Lately, I've been working on some effects using the Top Change, and a question popped up that I'm sure many of you have thought about. How do you achieve flawless misdirection to keep spectators from looking at the deck when you execute a Top Change from the top of the deck while seated?

As a suggestion, I recommend checking out Slydini's "Shoot-Death" (Relaxation) technique. It incorporates several fundamental physical and psychological elements crucial to the Top Change, and it's applicable to coins, rings, and other objects.
It really depends on the timing, but the key is always in that moment of relaxation. For instance, I perform an effect where I find four spectator cards. For them, the trick is over at that point, everyone lets their guard down, and I make the switch of the four cards for four aces. Then I talk about how what were their four cards are now four aces, and so on, and they don't even realize the change happened! :D
In some of my more complex routines, I'll make a gesture, like pointing to someone or asking a question related to the effect, to get them to focus on something else, and that's when I execute the move ;)
