Packet Tricks: What's Your Favorite?

Hey everyone, I'd love some recommendations for card packet tricks that you can carry in your wallet. I'm open to suggestions for shops or resources where I can learn them.

Thanks a lot!

My favorite packet tricks are Wonder's Wild Card, Gabi's version of the Dolores trick, and Vernon's Elevator – at least for now, haha.

To answer your question, my favorite is Daryl's Presto Printo (I think I've said this before, haven't I?), which is a version of Wild Card. It's playful, fun, and you can stretch it out or shorten it however you like.

Now that I've got it down, Color Cards is also very impressive. Even though it uses 10 cards, it's an intermediate-level effect, has many steps, and is quite incoherent. It's more of an obsession than pure enjoyment.

Another one I discovered a few months ago is The Limited Edition, which is a really neat version of the Princess Card Trick. It only uses 5 cards and isn't complicated. Plus, it's endorsed by Max Maven.

Thanks a ton for everything, I have another question: which of those effects can be performed without a table? I've seen The Limited Edition, and the good news is the price is pretty affordable. The only thing is, if you run into a really observant and annoying spectator, they might spot the little 'inconsistency'.

The presentation is really the foundation of the routine. I use Dan Harlan's approach, ditching a blank/blank card when I start the count. This creates an initial psychological pause.

When you gather the cards, you create a second moment of misdirection and focus the spectator's attention on the fact that their card has vanished. All the focus is there, not on the other cards, so unless they have a photographic memory, they're not going to notice 100% of the time.

Another thing is that the cards aren't examinable, but that's where your skill comes in to switch effects and misdirect the audience to another element.

Presto Printo, Color Cards, Dolores' Wild Cards, etc., require a table, but The Limited Edition isn't essential or even necessary.

Another one I just remembered is , which you can do with 3 identical black cards and 2 identical red cards. The commercial effect is sold with tarot cards, but any deck will do. I do it with a Spanish deck. It's a Three-Card Monte routine without a table and without gimmicks, check it out.

I've been involved in magic for almost 50 years, and without a doubt, WILD CARD is a staple in my everyday work. I've developed my own routines, and I'm familiar with routines by others I often reference.

I'm happy to send you, free of charge, my lecture on the subject, where you'll find a historical overview, my original techniques, and classic methods.
