The Four Magical Elements (Effect)

I'm sharing a new effect I've come up with, using various card magic techniques and different types of cards (ESP, blank faces, gaffs...). Honestly, I think the presentation stands out more than the techniques themselves, which is how it should be (let me know if you agree).

Again, I'm open to any feedback for improvement 🙂 Hope you like it!

Hey there.

That story about the planets is absolutely fascinating. Excellent! I'd just point out two minor things:

  • For the planet invaded by water, I'd say "the entire planet is an immense sea" instead of the part about the liquid and the container's shape. Ultimately, all you see are waves, and there's no container visible.
  • For the planet invaded by wind, "it would be like an empty planet, where there's only air," not the part about it disappearing. What exactly disappears?

Otherwise, as I said, the story is excellent. I really enjoyed it.

The technique is solid.

The coin production effect, fantastic! I never saw it coming. Here's a suggestion: if there's no risk of flashing (you can just keep the cards in your hand), leave the gaff card visible and place the coin next to it (or on top) so that image really sticks in the spectators' minds.

In summary: Congrats, especially on the planet story.

P.S. I completely agree with you: the presentation should stand out more than the techniques, just like in this example. And I'd go even further: the presentation is all that stands out. Spectators don't see techniques; it doesn't matter if you're doing a self-working trick or one with the most difficult move in the world. Spectators don't see it, nor are they interested.

Cheers,

@ricardorg2283 Thanks so much for your detailed suggestions! I really like your point about the water; with your permission, I'll definitely incorporate that. As for the air, it's true I didn't explain it well. My intention was to convey that if air (the wind) invades a planet, it carries it off its spot and makes it vanish. I'll have to find a different way to present that.

I also really like the suggestion of leaving the gaff card face up with the coin on top of it, next to the hole, as the final image.

Thanks again, this kind of constructive feedback always helps me improve, which is exactly what I'm after
