My First Parlor Magic Show
Hey everyone! I'm putting together my first parlor magic show. I've pretty much got all the effects picked out, but there's one I'd love to do and I have no idea how it works. It's the bowling ball production from a notebook.
Also, if anyone can give me some tips for putting the show together, whether it's about effects or theoretical aspects, I'd really appreciate it.

Tip: Design your show as an emotional journey, not just a series of tricks.
It's not enough to simply string together impressive effects. Think:
👉 The key is in the structure:
Start with something relatable and engaging to win over the audience.
Then build the wonder, alternating rhythms.
And finish with an effect that not only surprises... but touches the soul.
💡 As Tamariz said: “The strongest effect should go at the end, but the most beautiful one should linger in their memory.”
@sergi:
Could you share a video of someone performing that trick????
That rings a bell, but I can't remember who I saw do it 😅.

The effect of the bowling ball appearance from a notepad or notebook is generally known as "Bowling Ball from Sketchpad" or simply "Sketchpad Ball Appearance". It's a creation widely popularized by Kevin James.
Hey there, I think I know what you're talking about. I don't know the name of the effect, but it uses a Gimmick, which you could probably make yourself. Basically, the ball is already behind the notebook from the start (which isn't really revealing anything, as it's obvious it doesn't just appear out of thin air).
How you attach or secure it is up to you. But I wouldn't use a bowling ball. I'd go for something lighter. To try it out, maybe two tennis balls would work. Though I'd probably use a mini basketball.
Since we're not supposed to reveal effects, I've tried to be pretty clear without making it too obvious.
If that doesn't make sense, I'll try to explain it differently.
Magical regards! 🪄🫡
Thanks a bunch! I kinda figured it was the notepad, but that seemed too simple, and I wasn't sure if there was a more standard approach.
