Any Tricks for These Types of Gimmick Cards?

I recently picked up a deck with double-back, blank-face, blank-back, and double-face cards, etc. But I'm having trouble finding tricks for them. Do any of you know some?

Wow, there are so many effects...

  • With a blank face card, you can do Bannon's Spin Doctor; if you add 3 aces with colored backs, you'll absolutely nail it.
  • With a double-face card, you can do Chaos II or Cheek to Cheek.
  • With a double-backer, The Embarrassed Joker.

Honestly, you've got plenty to choose from. We all fall for it at first (I sure did!) buying individual gaff cards. To be frank, I ended up buying full decks (blank face, which I use most, blank back, double backer, etc.) to build my gaffed decks because those few cards, costing a fortune, just weren't cutting it for me. My advice is that when you need them, buy a complete gaffed deck instead of individual cards. You'll have more than enough, and it'll give you plenty to create your own effects.

Regarding the Experto en Magia @maximiliano trick with a talking blank face card from @link22, he offers it for free since he uploaded it to social media. If you feel it's not suitable, please remove the link.

That type of card is great for many effects. There are specific books like Ramón Varela and Tamariz's Trucky Cartomagia, which is divided into sections—one for double backers, another for double facers, etc. (e.g., "The Mathematical Bad" or "Symphony of Color").

Also, Hugard's Encyclopedia of Card Tricks (I believe it's available for free on Simsalabim) is similarly divided. And then there are other books (e.g., in Kaplan, Chapter 3, there's an effect with a short card and a double facer; also in Tamariz's Mnemonica books, and some of Frank García's work...).

Recently, @maximiliano posted a video featuring a blank facer... Ultimately, by reading and watching, you'll see examples and get ideas to create your own effects.

Thanks for the tips, I'll check out those books.

@gutierrezlizarraldeg:

double back, blank face, blank back, double face, etc.

I'm taking it you've bought a varied deck of gaff cards.

Well, let me tell you, there are hundreds..., no, wait, thousands..., scratch that, MILLIONS (I might be exaggerating a little bit, but I don't really think so) of tricks you can do with those cards.

Many of them already invented, and many more just waiting for someone to create them, because gaff cards are so versatile; they lend themselves to so much (actually, a practically infinite number of possibilities).

All you have to do is search YouTube for "gaff cards" and you'll find thousands upon thousands of entries with tons of ideas. There are so many, I wouldn't even know which one to suggest here for you to check out, so I recommend you do your own search (you'll have no problem finding plenty!).

Hi @gutierrezlizarraldeg,

If you post some photos of the box or the cards you have, I think we'll be able to help you better.

Based on what we see, we'll be able to give you better advice.

Many of the Gaff card decks I have came with instructional videos. That's to see if they match yours.

Regards,

Carlos

I think those cards are for making gimmicks. What a miss, huh?

I think those cards are for making gimmicks.

They work great as gimmicks for a ton of effects.

In fact, they're gimmick cards themselves! 😋

Well, I only know one trick, and frankly, that's not enough for what this deck cost me.
