What's Better?
Hey everyone, I've been thinking for a few days about which is better for effects that require a setup: either not shuffling the deck and having the spectator question why we didn't, or performing false cuts or false shuffles and getting busted because the spectator realizes you never actually mixed the deck.
I'd really value your input.
Thanks

Hi Clara,
It all depends on the trick. For example, if you're going to use a false shuffle just to find the four Aces afterward, there's no real point. Just produce them and you're good to go.
That said, false shuffles are a critical part of your magical arsenal and should be performed well.
If you do them right, no one will ever catch you. The concept of a false shuffle simply doesn't exist in a layperson's mind.
They're only noticeable if your technique isn't solid.
Good luck!
Thanks so much, and I hope this helps someone else out there!
Have a great week!
Hey there @Fdghfyjxtuxmluyc.iy
First off, it's best to know some impromptu effects.
That'll give you plenty of leeway so you don't have to worry if someone asks you to shuffle the deck.
Right off the bat, those effects are perfect for kicking off a magic session. They'll let you hand the deck out for a good shuffle and firmly plant the idea in your spectators' minds that the deck has been thoroughly mixed (by them, no less), and that there's "no way" you could possibly have stacked it.
After that, just do a couple of effects that way. If you happen to have a cold deck pre-stacked, simply make the switch and you're all set.
Cheers and good magic!!!
