Backup Plan if "Las flores de Coleridge" Goes Sideways

Hey everyone!

I'm working on Gabi Pareras' "Las flores de Coleridge." Let's see how I can explain this without giving too much away... (I'm not sure how much I can reveal on this forum).

When doing this effect, there's a chance the spectator who picks a card could mess up the trick. For that scenario, I need a backup effect. What tricks do you recommend as an out, considering the cards already on the mat and that the spectator has pointed to one?

Thanks in advance for the help.

By "desbarate," do you mean the spectator picks a card other than the one you were trying to force?

Yeah, exactly.

If they don't hit the card, the best bet is to transition into another effect (since you haven't announced it to the audience yet), using the cards on the mat and the chosen card, so the 'hiccup' isn't obvious.

Sorry for explaining it halfway, but I don't want to tip the method...

I have some ideas, but they're pretty basic: divining the chosen card with a bit of sleight of hand, making it appear or travel, or whatever. But... how do you justify having the spectator count 10 cards beforehand?

I'd like an 'out' where that count is integrated.

All ideas are welcome!

Thanks!
