Greeting Card
Hey everyone.
I bought some Bicycle Supreme Line cards that came with a Gaff card like this one:
I wasn't sure what to do with it until it occurred to me to come up with an effect that could work as a birthday gift, or for any other occasion. The idea is for the card to be a greeting card for the spectator. I'm sharing it here in case anyone finds it useful. I've titled it "The Greeting Card" (not super original, haha!)
Cheers,
Effect
The magician shuffles the deck and turns over the card that fate has left on top (the 7 of clubs). They turn it over again and ask the birthday person to sign the back of the card. The deck is shuffled, and to square up the cards, it's given a few taps on the table. The magician explains that these taps are a "special magic Pass." They spread the cards face down and look for the spectator's signed card. They pull it out, and when it's turned over, the clubs are seen to have spread out to one side (the long edge), leaving space for a congratulatory message.
Method
Set up the gaff card on top, and the corresponding regular card second from top (in my case, the 7 of clubs).
False shuffles and cuts to maintain the top setup.
Double Lift and turn over two cards as one to show the regular card.
Turn it over again and ask the spectator to sign the back of the card (they will be signing the gaff card).
Lose the card in the deck, followed by in-hand cuts, shuffles, and the taps.
Find the signed card and reveal it.
I'll leave the patter/story part up to each individual's creativity. Happy magic!!

Hey, your effect is a really neat idea. I used to do it a bit differently. Basically, the spectator would pick a card that had nothing on its back or face, and I wouldn't see it. Then I'd lose it in the deck, and with a magical gesture, the words "Happy Birthday" would appear on the face of a card. After another magical gesture, "Happy Birthday" would also appear on the back. But I think your effect is better.
Cheers,
Nice effect! I use it with WoW, so when I shake it for the change, the card comes out just like that.
Excellent, Ricardo!
Thanks so much for sharing this.
And congratulations on your creativity.
You've got a special card, and instead of just letting it go to waste, your creativity really kicks in!!!"
All the best,
Hey everyone! I seized the opportunity of my niece's birthday to do a trick for her; her eyes bugged out like an anime character, lol.
Cheers,
