Card Packet Trick: Noah's Ark

Hi everyone!

I've come up with a packet effect that can be easily adapted to a regular deck (for example, using 4 Kings and 4 Queens), though I used a custom, animal-themed one. Check it out:

Seriously, the spectator can name any number, and the effect always works. Anyone want to guess how it's done?

All the best!

That's great, really fun! Bravo!

Aside from the obvious (smoother card handling), I have a question and a suggestion:

  • The question: How do the animals get into the ark? You show it empty first, then full of animals. I feel like it's missing a magical moment, or you should show the empty ark card more prominently. It's the first card you show, but too much time passes, and too many other things happen, so I don't remember what it looked like.
  • The suggestion: When you show the final cards, maybe you should feature mythical animals like unicorns, centaurs, etc. Perhaps an Olram Subtlety display would add more flair to the ending.

Congrats!!

@DeZeta I really like the mythical animals idea! Mind if I steal that? I think that storyline about them no longer existing makes for a much more consistent presentation.

Regarding the ark, when I'm performing live, I usually give it more focus at the beginning: "Do you know what this is?", "What animal would you put in it if you could only pick one?", dialogue, etc. It's a whole different ballgame on camera, you know how it is 😅

Thanks for your input!

Hey @fr_lorenzo. Just read @DeZeta's suggestion, going back to what I mentioned about the animals that were supposedly left off the ark but were actually around historically... The mythical animal idea is brilliant, because it could serve to explain why those animals no longer exist (since they were left outside the ark). And that way, the ark's story would also align with actual history.

Best,

Great effect, Francisco.

I really commend your creativity.

Did you buy or make those animal cards with Bicycle backs? They're absolutely wonderful!

You asked for our thoughts on the method. Well, I'll hold off on giving my opinion, so we don't spoil the illusion too soon. I hope more of our fellow magicians see your effect and enjoy it.

If you don't mind, I'm going to include it in my personal repertoire, because this trick will be absolutely delightful for the little ones.

All the best,

Hey @mario_garcia_diaz

The cards are from a special deck called Fast n' genious, which pairs with the Fake n' genious 1 and 2 (I've used and mixed them so much, I don't even know which animal belongs to which anymore, haha!)

I'm glad you're going to try the effect 😊 I hope it's a big hit! Let me know how it goes.

All the best!

This is really great!

I definitely didn't see the Ark coming at the end.

So creative overall!

@magicamente Thanks so much! Glad you liked it 🙂

Nice one, @fr_lorenzo, congrats! It totally flew over my head at first glance. I did expect the ark part at the end, but not with such precise animal species. I'll have to watch it a few more times and get my decoding neurons working, lol. Thanks for sharing.

The only thing that throws me off is that the story deviates a bit from the original (the ark also had birds; Noah released a dove when the flood ended). If it was all fish or 100% marine animals (like a dolphin), that detail would be smoothed over.

Still, I think it's pretty solid. Thanks again!

@ricardorg2283 Glad you enjoyed it 🙂 If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a private message (I don't mind revealing the secret, but it's probably best to keep it private here to avoid any accidental spoilers if someone happens to read it, lol).

As for the story, yeah, I'm aware of Noah's Dove, but I wanted to add a little variety to the animals left out.
