Using Roughing Spray
I recently picked up some roughing spray to treat my cards and make my own Invisible Deck. Besides that, I know there are other tricks that use rough cards. Could you tell me some more so I can get the most out of the product?
I also did Monkey in the Middle — killer trick!
Thanks!

No need to rush into things...
First off, congrats on getting yourself a one- or two-sided roughening spray. It's a game-changer that will save you countless times and make things much smoother.
Roughening solution (AD) is a tool you should always have on hand, like scissors, a utility knife, or double-sided tape. You never know when you'll need it, but you WILL need it. Not just because you see it in a tutorial or someone recommends it, but because you'll realize that if your Double Lift isn't working out in "that one trick," or it flashes too much, or it's really obvious you're getting two cards, etc., applying AD will solve all your problems.
As Mario mentioned, it's definitely used for traditional Out of This World effects. But the same principle can be applied to packet tricks, or even to gaffed cards. Or even on an Out of This World deck you buy or make for fun, which improves its handling with AD.
And don't even get me started on applying it to half a card, or just a few, or the center of a card. The possibilities are endless.
So, take your time with your AD spray. In fact, I heard Julio Montoro say he bought Science Friction when it came out years ago, and he still has half left. Of course, that one costs 90 Euros. Almost two years ago, I bought a single-sided AD (the cheaper kind – I used to use the two-sided for economy), and I use it constantly. It's one of the best and most useful magic purchases I've ever made. I don't even know how many times I've used it, and I still have some left.
First off, I truly appreciate your interest and such a detailed response, seriously.
I bought it because I received Adrián Vega's Stop It! for my birthday, but the trick was incomplete; almost all the cards were missing the roughing fluid. So I wanted to make the most of the product and see what else I could do with it.
I'll take my time with it, you're right; I've got a long way to go in this hobby.
The only problem I have is that magic really thrives on you knowing the fundamentals, so learning about it on your own gets really complicated; I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. This platform is a good solution, but I can't afford it yet.
Thanks again, I appreciate the response!
But keep in mind that each gaffed deck is essentially a one-trick pony (OTD), so it's not worth making a bunch of gaffed decks that you might never use.
Work with your Invisible Deck, use it, perform it, and if you enjoy working with a deck that's only good for one effect and that you have to swap out for another routine, then you can move on to another gaffed deck.
All the best,
If you're in the school, Luis Olmedo will be releasing an Antiderrapante course soon. I'll make an announcement in the Magiazine: https://blog.magiaycardistry.com/subscribe
I can't afford to be part of the school right now. Maybe in the future, when I'm in a better financial place and I've hit the ceiling with all the free magic I can learn. Honestly, I still have countless things I can improve on before I need to pay for more.
Thanks for the info anyway!😁
Hello Joan.
You could perform the Brainwave, Out of This World, Ultimate Brainwave (Bicycle version or Phoenix version), among others.
Good luck
