Same Deck for Magic and Cardistry?
Hey everyone, this might be a silly question, but I used the same deck for both magic and cardistry for two years, and it got super worn out to the point where the cards can't fan smoothly anymore.
Now I have two new decks, and I wanted to ask if it's better to dedicate one just for magic and the other solely for cardistry to make them last longer.
Thanks!

There are no silly questions!!
It all depends on how many hours you put into the deck.
Right now, I use the same deck to practice both disciplines.
That said, I have over 20 decks at home, so I can always open a new one.
It's always good to have backup decks; the investment is worth it.
Since for cardistry, the visual aspect is much more important, having different designs can be something to consider.
All the best!
Hi Mar,
In my opinion, for Cardistry, you really need a higher quality, and therefore more expensive, deck.
I'd use a standard deck (like Bicycle Rider Backs) for magic. But for Cardistry, I'd go with a Supreme Line or something better (and there are plenty of great options out there).
I do want to commend you, though, because both disciplines really complement each other. Cardistry definitely adds an elegant touch when you're performing your magic.
All the best, and keep up the great work!
@Mar:
The most important thing (for me) is to ALWAYS have clean hands; that will prolong the lifespan of any deck.
It might seem trivial, but it's really important.
Many times we don't realize it, and we use the deck right after doing another activity that leaves our hands not as clean as they should be.
When you handle cards, be compulsive and scrupulous about cleanliness, like Sheldon Cooper 😁
Between cleaning your hands (or rather, your fingers, fingerprints, and cuticles) and having at least 2-3 decks to rotate (on the same day, you should switch decks every hour of practice), your decks should last a long time.
I personally always have about 8-10 regular decks available and open for practice to switch between throughout the day.
But hey, it depends on each person and what you can afford. As a tip, I'd definitely recommend having 3 decks to rotate through to make them last longer.
Beyond that, for both magic and cardistry, ANY deck will work.
Typically, cardistry decks have more visual backs, and for magic, they're simpler, but that's all up to personal preference.

Spot on!!
Those refreshing wipes they give you after eating shrimp come in super handy! lol
Hey there,
@Mar, as we've already discussed, you can totally use the same deck for both magic and cardistry without any issues.
However, if you go that route, I'd suggest rotating between a couple of decks to help them last longer.
I especially recommend using cardistry trainers a lot to practice your moves. That way, you'll save a ton of wear and tear on your actual decks and learn the techniques much more efficiently.
