Free Cardistry Course for Magicians with Julio Ribera

I'd define cardistry as the art of creating a circus act right in your hands: the cards become jugglers, acrobats, contortionists, tightrope walkers, human cannons, trapeze artists, and of course, magicians.

Before it was known by that name, card magic featured several flourishes like the Charlier Cut, the one-handed fan, the Hot Shot, the Spring, the Scissor Cut, and so on.

In 1992, card magician Chris Kenner published the book Totally Out of Control which featured an explanation of a two-handed cut called "The Five Faces of Sybil," and that has since become one of cardistry's fundamental moves.

Then in 1997, magician Brian Tudor released Show Off, a video tutorial that exclusively taught flourishes and not magic tricks.

Starting in 2001, we saw the emergence of Xtreme Card Manipulation (created by De'vo vom Schattenreich and Jerry Cestkowski) and the Dan & Dave twins, who took cardistry to another level with more visual and musical displays.

And that wraps up our history lesson on cardistry! 🤣🤣🤣

If you're a magician, why should you consider learning cardistry?

It forces you to develop extreme card control, which in turn makes you learn card magic techniques infinitely faster.

It's a highly visual way to impress an audience, and you can use it as an introduction to a magic trick or as a grand finale.

They say practicing cardistry is very relaxing, so it could come in handy before a show (or before an exam...).

It's a really attractive way to express yourself and helps you stand out from the crowd.
