Galicia's Magic Gala
Hey everyone! Mark your calendars for October 15th! There's a grand international magic gala happening at the Ourense Municipal Auditorium from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
I don't have many more details at the moment, but I'll keep you updated as I get more info. If anyone else knows anything, please feel free to share it!
Best,

You took the words right out of my mouth! This Sunday on Magiazine, we'll be sharing some info on this very topic.
Here's the link I have:

Let's keep it going!
Yessss!!! ☺️
It's in my city (just a few blocks from my house)!!!
I already have my ticket, now...all I have to do is wait 😂😂😂.
👏👏👏 Well, I guess we'll connect; I'm not just 500 meters away, but actually 1.5 km out.
Hey everyone.
Yesterday I went to the gala and wanted to share a few thoughts on it.
I should say that I've NEVER been to a gala like this (stage magic) because it's not really my type of magic, but I wanted to experience it.
Overall, it was good, although it's clear this kind of magic is for lay audiences.
Did I enjoy the show? Yeah, I did.
Was I surprised or fooled by anything? Nope.
I'll try to keep this as brief as possible
In Ourense, the performers (in this order) were Paul Ponce, Miguel Muñoz, Gerald Le Guilloux, and Amadeo Edama, with Dania Díaz as the host.
Paul Ponce, from Argentina and considered "God's juggler."
What can I say, he was excellent. It's obvious he's a master; he's got it down.
His show is truly insane to watch.
And without a doubt, it's "magic" (yes, in quotes), because I don't think many people in the world can do what he does (even if it's pure, hard training to achieve it).
What I mean is, I absolutely loved it, but it's more pure skill than magic – incredible skill, obviously the result of a lot of hard work, but skill nonetheless.
To be clear, this is just my take. I'm sure many in the audience thought there was "a trick or a gimmick" to what he does (and rightfully so).
Still, it's worth seeing his insane show, where, by the way, his wife assists him. (*1)
Miguel Muñoz, from Spain and a world champion of magic.
I won't elaborate too much.
Excellent as well, but I figured everything out.
It didn't spoil the experience for me because I took it as a "tutorial" on how I could do it myself. Plus, I got to see it live just a few feet away (from the third row).
At this point, one (meaning me 😅) might think: I could easily be doing that myself.
On one hand, I believe it, and I'm going to try to replicate his show as close-up magic, to be able to perform it up close. I find that very interesting.
On the other hand, getting on stage and doing a show for a large number of people isn't my thing, and precisely because of that, I couldn't do it, even if I knew how.
Either way, I loved it, and it was clear that the rest of the lay audience was also fascinated, as the applause echoed throughout the auditorium (just like for the other acts).
Gerald Le Guilloux, from France and a classic magician.
Honestly, I wasn't expecting it, and he was probably the one who left me with the strongest feeling of magic.
I'd NEVER seen a magician like that (except in movies) – the typical one where you don't know where (well, I do know) but he suddenly produces from some silks... about 5 doves, 5 parakeets, and 2 dogs (terriers, I think), among other routines.
Classic magic, but impactful.
Even knowing how he did it, I really liked it. Everything looked so fluid, so natural.
And obviously, the lay audience was in a frenzy of excitement. (*2)
Amadeo Edama, from Spain, a great illusionist.
I suppose the grand finale of a show should be that part where everything explodes, where the last performer puts the finishing touch on it.
In this case, Edama presented a big levitation show (for laypeople) on stage with good choreography.
Excellent, I guess, for laypeople, I repeat.
Me, on the other hand, when I see someone fly, I start thinking about my grocery list, especially if it's on a stage with a black backdrop 😋
But hey, in terms of theatrical quality and staging, it was excellent, and that's what counts.
And the audience, obviously, was fascinated and applauded energetically.
Oh, right... the host.
Dania Díaz
A Venezuelan magician who, as the host, performed some basic tricks for the audience (impactful for a layperson, though) to bring someone up on stage (I almost got picked, but luckily it wasn't me 😂).
So, she didn't really get to show her full potential.
And that's it. 😊
Just wanted to share my perspective.
Just so you know, the ticket price (around 16 euros) is negligible compared to the show they offer.
By the way:
In Ourense, Mago Rafa (a magician from Lugo), Dúo Kybalion (Inna Rudova - Russia and Guillermo Neumayer - Argentina), and Lore Lavand (Argentina) weren't seen. They're also part of the gala, and I assume they'll be performing in Santiago, Coruña, or Vigo.
Man, that was a really entertaining review of the show. @Zeta
Thanks for sharing.
I think I've still got a lot of work to do... 😅
