Magician on El Hormiguero
Hey everyone, a few days ago, while watching El Hormiguero with my family, a magician whose name I don't know appeared. He did a pretty interesting routine and it was good, but I know how to do all the tricks except for one, which I'd love to know how he did it. For the effect, he does the following: he takes the deck out of the box, like any of us would, and asks a spectator to name a card. Once it's named, he delivers the patter, saying: "That's the one card you couldn't have picked, because I've got it right here!" And as he says that, he shakes the box, and only the spectator's chosen card pops out. I hope that makes sense and you can tell me about any book or YouTube video that teaches how to do it, as I want to start my routine this way from now on.

The routine itself is the opener for Dani Daortiz's UTOPIA. But Jorge Luengo performs it really well and adds his own touch to it.
I'm not sure how he finds the card; I don't know if he's using a mnemona stack or something else. The Ace of Spades is a very common card, and since Patrick Dempsey is American, it was a high probability. So, I'm afraid I can't be much help with that....
Hey there, happy Sunday!
So, as @ElSergio02 mentioned, he's palming the Ace of Spades. If you watch the video in slow motion, you'll see it clearly.
What I don't know is how he located the chosen card so quickly; I hope someone here can answer that for us.
All the best!!!
Hey there,
If so, it's a card palm. Palms are explained in Vicente Canuto's Fundamental Card Magic, but if you want some videos, I've got some links for you.
Yeah, that's the routine, but my question isn't about how he produces it, but how he finds it. I mean, how does he know the card and control it to the position he needs?
