Chicago Opener for social media
Inmagic teaches her adaptation of Chicago Opener for social media, a card effect with two moments of surprise. First, a selected card seems to become the only one in the deck with a different-coloured back. Then the repeat appears to fail: no second odd-backed card appears, but the one you left in view is revealed as the new selection.
The lesson includes the performance, complete explanation and an additional video devoted to the double lift. You will learn to prepare the two cards that link the phases, discreetly recognise the one you need and position the odd-backed card before starting. Inmagic distinguishes between the visible mark she uses to teach the method and a subtler mark for performing in person.
The first phase explains where to return the selection, how to complete the cut and how to locate the odd-backed card. The double lift lets you show two cards as one and build the first revelation. The supplement reviews this technique in more detail: how to obtain the break with the little finger, keep both cards aligned and retain the break between the two turnovers.
In the second phase, you will work on the controlled choice of the marked card and acting out the supposed mistake. The line announcing a single odd-backed card sets up the ending and directs attention to the card already set aside. The class shows both the option of displaying it on your chest with adhesive tape, as used in the performance video, and leaving it on the table.
You need a deck, a duplicate card of the same rank and suit with a different-coloured back, and a pencil to make a discreet mark. Adhesive tape is optional. No physical materials are included. Practise the double lift, simple cuts and naturally locating the second card; the extra video helps review the handling, but fluency comes from rehearsing the complete sequence.
