Find Any Card at Any Number

Imagine someone picks a card and loses it in the deck. They name a random number—let's say 12. You count out eleven cards, and the very next card is theirs. This is the "Any Card At Any Number" (ACAAN) plot, and it is one of the most famous effects in magic. This version doesn't require math or memorized stacks. You can do it with a borrowed deck anytime.

How the Move Works

Julio Ribera teaches his personal handling that he has used for over ten years. He breaks the trick into two parts. First, you'll learn how to control the spectator's card to the bottom of the deck. Then, he shows you the specific finger grip used to secretly pull that card from the bottom during the count. The teaching focuses on the "invisible" moment where you switch a regular card for the spectator's selection.

Who This Is For

This lesson is for intermediate magicians. You should already be comfortable with a basic card control, like an overhand shuffle or a double undercut. The trick isn't difficult to understand, but it requires a bit of "knack" to make the final reveal look smooth. If you can handle a deck of cards without looking at your hands, you can learn this.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to learn?
You will understand the secret in ten minutes. However, you should spend a few days practicing the count in front of a mirror to make sure your fingers don't "flash" the bottom card.

Do I need a specific type of deck?
No. This is entirely impromptu. You can use a brand new deck or an old, sticky one from a junk drawer.

What if they pick a very high number like 40?
The move works the same regardless of the number. Julio explains how to keep the rhythm of your counting consistent so the spectators don't suspect a thing.
