Si Stebbins: Setup and Card Divinations

WWoodyDébutant20m1

Understanding and Setting Up the Si Stebbins Stack

Woody Aragón presents an introduction to stacked decks using the Si Stebbins system. He explains its arithmetic structure, the relationships between values and suits, and the properties that allow you to work with it without memorizing the individual position of all fifty-two cards.

A procedure is developed to set up the stack starting from a suit-separated deck or a brand new deck. The explanations and examples allow you to verify the relationships between the cards before incorporating them into a routine.

Divinations and Audience Management

The opening demonstration brings together several divinations: a freely chosen card, a quick humorous reveal, and a multi-card finale. Afterwards, he explains how to construct each moment and how to vary the presentation between a telepathic tone and a more playful one.

Handling receives special attention: showing the deck naturally, allowing the spectator to cut, maintaining a carefree attitude, and obtaining the necessary information without making your glance look suspicious. Ways to pace and add variety to the reveal of a small group of cards are also discussed.

Cuts and everyday-looking actions are studied alongside the conditions the stack needs to maintain. This connects the mechanics of the system with practical performance choices.

Materials and Requirements

You need a complete fifty-two-card deck of playing cards and a close-up pad to set up and practice. The class explains the stack and the simple calculations it uses; it does not require any prior knowledge of a memorized deck. It is recommended to practice the setup, the selections, and the reveals until you can interact comfortably with the spectator while presenting the effect.
