Invisible thread: fundamentals and floating candy
Materials and performance conditions
The lesson introduces the possibilities of invisible thread: levitations, suspensions, and animations. It compares elastic and non-elastic threads, different thicknesses, and common accessories to help you understand how to choose the right material based on the object and the effect.
The conditions that make its use viable are explored: smooth handling, tension, lighting, background, and wardrobe. Borja Montón discusses what to look for when checking thread visibility and how to adapt rehearsal and performance conditions.
Preparation and care of the thread
The footage teaches how to separate a strand, prepare its ends, and store it without tangles. Wax, tape, and adhesive dots are compared, and a simple way to store the material is shown so it is ready to use and can be reused whenever possible.
Commercial accessories are presented as options within the material comparison. The levitation taught is performed using thread and simple items, without the need for a motorized reel.
The floating candy
The practical explanation walks through preparing the candy, initiating the levitation, and coordinating your hands. Ascents, descents, and movements are practiced, along with object stability and gestures that reinforce the illusion of freedom around it.
Movement variations, spectator participation, and different ways to finish are proposed, including the option to hand out a candy. Other lightweight objects to experiment with and the creation of your own short routine are also discussed.
Material and requirements
You need non-elastic invisible thread, suitable wax or adhesives, scissors, a playing card or piece of cardstock to store it on, and wrapped candies. Preparation and fundamentals are explained from the start. Controlling tension and movements requires patient practice with the actual material before performing.
