Build a performance through technique and presentation: a masterclass of six linked effects and three independent coincidence, sandwich and card-at-a-number routines. Leandro Furtado explains setups, alternatives and audience management.

Technique and presentation for close-up magic

Leandro Furtado brings together a repertoire masterclass and three independent routines. The learning path combines character building, audience attention and structuring a performance with deck setups, controls, doubles, counts and packet handling. Each lesson explains its own conditions and materials; belonging to the same family of effects does not make their methods interchangeable.

All-round card magic

Study the masterclass in its three original videos, in that order. The Conexiones performance leads into work on atmosphere, naturalness, eye contact, pauses and adapting to the venue. Six linked effects are then developed: time travel, portals with kings, cutting to the aces, a sandwich with three selections, card at a number with dice and a signed-card transposition.

You will learn what preparation each phase needs and how to preserve it when moving to the next. The sandwich begins in the second video and continues in the third. The class includes alternative handlings and guidance on organising the repertoire; it does not promise mastery without rehearsal.

Soulmates

A routine of three increasingly strong coincidences with a prepared ordinary deck. The lesson covers the arrangement, the reference cut, instructions that ensure the participant preserves the order and resetting between phases. The cards match in rank and colour, but they are not identical duplicates. The last phase uses a thought-of number within the range explained.

Express sandwich

Two kings appear, vanish and find the selected card. The teaching covers the control to third position, the production, two vanish handlings and the order of the packets for the revelation. There are alternatives to the pinky count and the control using a Charlier cut. This routine is different from the masterclass sandwich with four aces and three selections.

Card at a number with dice

A drawn card connects two decks and a sum obtained by stacking three dice. The explanation includes blank cards, a controlled selection, palming and removing a packet, a partial shuffle and an adjustment using a count and a cut. The Mirage deck is an option; the routine is not presented as a freely named card and number or as an impromptu effect.

Materials and preparation

Check each lesson's list before practising. Together, they use ordinary decks, blank and duplicate cards where specified, additional cards for some packets, three dice and a marker. Some presentations need a supporting surface. The glass used in the masterclass and other choices of clothing or layout support the teacher's character; they are not compulsory purchases.

The demands vary: Soulmates focuses on preparation, order and guiding the participant; the other lessons add coordination of breaks, controls, palming or changes. Leandro is left-handed: adapt the references to your usual hand while preserving the function of each movement. Practise the techniques separately, then their links with patter and instructions to the audience.
