Coins Across - Sleight of Hand

JJoseAdvanced4m

Make Three Coins Jump Between Your Hands

You’ll be able to make three coins travel one by one from one hand to the other. It looks like the coins are jumping through the air invisibly. The best part is the ending—your friend will actually feel the last coin land in their own palm while you aren't even touching it.

How the Lesson is Taught

The lesson is a quick, three-minute walkthrough where Jose shows you the full routine first. After the performance, he breaks the trick down into three phases. He explains exactly where to hold the coins, how to move them into a palm without looking stiff, and how to use sound to make the magic feel real.

Mastering the Classic Palm

This is an intermediate routine that focuses on the classic palm. You’ll need to be able to hold a coin in the center of your hand while keeping your fingers looking relaxed. Jose designed this specific version of the trick to help you practice that move in a real routine. If you can already hold a coin in your palm for a few seconds, you're ready to start. It takes some practice to get the rhythm right, but there are no complicated "knuckle-busting" moves here.

The Moves You'll Learn

  • The Finger Grip Transition: How to move a coin into a classic palm while you're picking up another coin.
  • The Sound Pass: A technique that makes the audience "hear" a coin arrive in your hand before you even open it.
  • The Sleeve Justification: How to use a simple gesture, like rolling up your sleeves, to hide a secret move.
  • The Spectator Finish: How to let the final coin travel into a friend's hand so they feel the impact.
  • Routine Timing: How to pace the three phases so the magic builds as you go.

Common Questions

Do I need special coins?
No. You can do this with any three identical coins. Half dollars or large quarters work best because they are easier to palm, but any coins will work.

Is this easier than using a "shell" coin?
This version uses pure sleight of hand, which is a bit harder than using a gimmick, but it means you can do it anytime with borrowed money. You never have to worry about someone asking to see the coins.

How long does it take to learn?
You can learn the steps in ten minutes, but you'll want to spend a few days practicing the classic palm so your hand looks natural.

Can I do this standing up?
Yes. This routine doesn't require a table, so it’s perfect for when you're standing around at a party or talking to friends.
